The Food that you eat also depends on your Mood. Don't you believe?? You got to.

Now you all must be wondering how ‘Food’ and ‘Mood’ is related to each other??? You may not have thought about it but that’s how it works.

The food you would like to eat depends on your mood and emotions.  Say for example, you had been going through a very bad day at your work place and you would like to cheer up. Ultimately you end up grabing your favourite drink or desert to chill out and pep up your mood.

So both Food and Mood goes hand in hand. Ladies!! if you would have noticed during your menstruation cycle, you may tend to be choosy about the food you eat. Some may like to have spicy foods, or few may prefer to have more of veggies and fruits during this time. What does serotonin do?

Serotonin is a hormone which is present in the pineal glands, digestive tract, blood platelets and the brain. The job of serotonin is to transmitt nerve signals between nerve cells, thereby narrowing down the blood vessels.

Any change in the serotonin levels in the brain, alters the mood of the individual.

How to raise your Serotonin level?

Certain foods helps in raising the serotonin levels. Foods that are rich in

  • Vitamin – B : Eggs, meat, corn, yeast, green leafs etc.
  • Calcium: Milk and milk products, tofu, almonds,fish, green leafs, sesame seeds etc.
  • Magnesium: Salmon, shrimp, sesame seeds, green leafs, brown rice etc.
  • Tryptophan: Soy and soy products, almonds,peanuts, turkey etc.
  • Essential fatty acids: viz. Omega 3’s, Omega 6’s and also GLA (Gamma Linolenic acid)

Music 4 StressYou might ask yourself which music is best? Or can some be a distraction? The radio station can be a good place to start listening.  You can put in a CD.  If you think your favorite music fits the work environment, include it.  Everybody has their choice of music type to listen to.  Since the turn of the 20th century, many like popular, jazz, classical, folk, rock or soundtracks.  Many people love to listen to the great classical composers. A large number of people find that a contemporary jazz band fits their mood while working.  Movie music had been a good background music. Music that is light and smooth fit the mood.  All the singers are very good but there are many who prefer instrumental music.  Not that the words are annoying, but it brings a mellow tone of concentration.  People like to hear melodies they recognize.  Some hum along while listening to the tunes.  Music that introduces new weight can raise your energy level.

Don’t deny yourself the music you need.  You might be able to teach yourself to work more productively with background music, even though you’ve been use to a quiet atmosphere.   Some people who have their own office get customized music programming especially for their business.  The business might call for instrumental or classical background to ease the nerves and soothe uneasiness.  However, the managers find the source to create music specifically for them and their customers.  Everyday millions of people create music for their customers.

The right music can energize you to move beyond procrastination, denial, or whatever blocks you have.

Music holds our memories. TV commercials show us how this happens. It’s easier to remember the jingle than whatever product was being sold; I find that’s true of jingles I heard as a child. Because music holds our memories, it has been found to be useful with those afflicted with neurological disorders, such as Alzheimer’s disease. A song with words like the familiar children’s rhyme “one, two, buckle my shoe” can help them remember simple tasks.
Lastly, the healing power of inspirational music, to me, also comes from its ability to open our hearts. There are songs and melodies that open our hearts to feelings that we didn’t even realize we were closed to! We can listen to something that brings us to tears when we were not feeling sad. This can be through a connection to Universal sadness or to our own personal sorrow. So, explore music thereby stay healthy & fit.
