What is an ORAL ULCER?

An Oral ulcer is nothing but an open sore present in the inner layer of the mouth. This might be due to many reasons. It usually appears to be white in colour and equally painful too. Whenever there is a break in the mucous membrane it forms as an ulcer.

Oral ulcers or mouth ulcer can happen in and around the mouth say inner side of the lower or upper lips, inner walls of your cheeks, tongue, back side of your tongue and at the bottom of your gums. This might also leave a bad odour in your mouth.

Causes of Oral Ulcer

There are various reasons and causes for these oral or mouth ulcers. They usually last for a week. For severe mouth ulcer cases, please consult a doctor and get medicated immediately. The major cause for a mild ulcer to occur is due to the following factors

Washing the ulcer with cold water might relieve the pain temporarily

Pain killers can be used to reduce the pain

To stop spreading further, use anti-bacterial mouth wash

Use of coconut oil at an initial stage can prevent it going worst

Do not eat hot and spicy foods during this period as it might get worse

Preventing Oral Ulcer

Preventing is always the best way to keep you away from such painful boils. Follow the steps to prevent oral ulcers

Dental cavities : Tooth Decay is the major cause for Cavities. A tooth decay affects the outer layer of the teeth which is known as the enamel and the dentin layer of the teeth. When we intake foods that are rich in carbohydrates, some particles of the food are left behind in the teeth. The bacteria’s present in our teeth digest them thereby leaving acids behind.
